GUJCET Explained: Who Needs It and How It Works

What is the GUJCET Exam Pattern?
For Science students, GUJCET assesses the core subjects studied in Class 11 and 12:
Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics for PCM students, and Physics + Chemistry + Biology for PCB students.
The examination uses multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Under the official GSEB GUJCET instructions, each correct answer carries 1 mark, while a wrong answer attracts a deduction of 0.25 mark.

For 2026, ACPC also publishes separate percentile tables for GSEB, CBSE, ISCE and GUJCET PCM/PCB, making it important for students to understand how their academic and entrance-exam performance fits into the admission process.
Do JEE Aspirants Still Need GUJCET?
For many Gujarat students, yes, it can be a smart backup strategy.
JEE Main opens opportunities for NITs, IIITs and other participating institutes, while GUJCET is relevant to the Gujarat state admission route. Students targeting JEE therefore shouldn't automatically assume that GUJCET has no value for them.
